WHY THE NAME “JEHOVAH” IS WRONG?

Firstly, the dead sea scrolls containing biblical manuscripts has the masoretic text, a word format as a substitute for the original biblical hebrew text of pure consonants. Though in voweled form, the masoretic text retained the original name of god, yod he waw he, or as transliterated in Latin was YHWH, the tetragrammaton, in its original form. Its a consonantal word having no vowels in it thus it cannot be pronounced or rather, it has no certain pronunciation. The dead sea scrolls preserved this traditional use of the tetragrammaton, a four consonantal word, even in the masoretic text of the scrolls as a sign to show that its pronunciation was lost. An example below:

Fact is, even proponents of the term Jehovah accede to this reality that pronunciation of YHWH was from uncertain derivations, meaning, nobody really knows the right pronunciation.

The term Jehovah is a Latinized translation from the tetragrammaton. The problem is, how could it be possible that an incomplete word missing vowels, pure consonants in origin, and much so without certain pronunciation could be translatable to Latin or even to any language around? It cannot possibly be. That as a premise did I come to the conclusion that Jehovah as a name of God is wrong.

Having no established pronunciation, much so an incomplete word, how could you certify therefore any translation for it?

Or if Jehovah is a pronunciation of YHWH, How could it be certain when there is no certain pronunciation?

HOW THE PRONUNCIATION OF THE NAME OF GOD-YHWH-GOT LOST?

Originally, the Hebrew Old Testament text was written in pure consonant alphabets likewise the name of God which was written in four Hebrew letters called tetragrammaton. It was transliterated letter by letter as YHWH. It was by the Jews’ knowledge during those times how it was correctly worded but then the pronunciation inevitably got lost.
It was partly due by this deterrent:
It was prohibited to speak it in vain.

Ex 20:7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

Anyone who blasphemes the name of God is bound to death.

Lv 24:16 And he that blasphemeth the name of the LORD, he shall surely be put to death, and all the congregation shall certainly stone him: as well the stranger, as he that is born in the land, when he blasphemeth the name of the LORD, shall be put to death.

Thus obviously it would be sacred for orthodox Jews to speak the name YHWH as blaspheming it publicly where there be two or more witnesses would merit death.

Dt 17:6 At the mouth of two witnesses, or three witnesses, shall he that is worthy of death be put to death; but at the mouth of one witness he shall not be put to death.

But by which reason was it forgotten indeed?
Contributory was the fear of speaking it and likewise bec they are immersed in idolatry thus they eventually forget it.

Some sect believes that the name of God is Jehovah or Yahweh. Here’s a closer look at that belief.

“Jehovah, name of the God of the Hebrew people as erroneously transliterated from the Masoretic Hebrew text. The word consists of the consonants JHVH or JHWH, with the vowels of a separate word, Adonai (Lord). What its original vowels were is a matter of speculation, for because of an interpretation of such texts as Exodus 20:7 and Leviticus 24:11, the name came to be regarded as too sacred for expression; the scribes, in reading aloud, substituted “Lord” and therefore wrote the vowel markings for “Lord” into the consonantal framework JHVH as a reminder to future readers aloud. The translators of the Hebrew, not realizing what the scribes had done, read the word as it was written down, taking the scribal vowel markings as intrinsic to the name of their God rather than as a mere reminder not to speak it. From this came the rendition Jehovah.”

The Encyclopedia Britannica (Micropedia, vol. 10) says:
“Yahweh-the personal name of the [El] of the Israelites …The Masoretes, Jewish biblical scholars of the Middle Ages, replaced the vowel signs that had appeared above or beneath the consonants of YHWH with the vowel signs of Adonai or of Elohim. Thus the artificial name Jehovah (YeHoWaH) came into being. Although Catholic scholars after the Renaissance and Reformation periods used the term Jehovah for YHWH, in the 19th and 20thcenturies biblical scholars again began to use the form Yahweh, thus this pronunciation of the Tetragrammaton was never really lost. Greek transcriptions also indicate that YHWH should be pronounced Yahweh.”
Interestingly, even the Jehovah’s Witnesses acknowledge that the name Jehovah is improper. Their book, “Let Your Name Be Sanctified” freely admits on pages 16 and 18 that Yahweh is the superior translation of the Tetragrammaton. This book has lately been withdrawn. However, in the preface of their “The Kingdom Interlinear Translation of the Greek Scriptures,” we find on page 23 the following admission:
“While inclining to view the pronunciation ‘Yahweh’ as the more correct way, we have retained the form ‘Jehovah’ because of people’s familiarity with it since the 14th century. Moreover, it preserves equally with other forms, the four letters of the Tetragrammaton JHVH.”

the pronunciation ‘Yahweh’ as the more correct way, we have retained the form ‘Jehovah’
Is YAHWEH indeed the more correct pronunciation than its revised form JEHOVAH? But why would they insist on using Jehovah than Yahweh?
Jesus Christ even knowing of its pronunciation never used it, exposed it nor revealed it.

Isa 41:22-23 Let them bring forth, and shew us what shall happen: let them shew the former things, what they be, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare us things for to come, shew the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye are gods: yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold [it] together.

let them shew the former things, what they be, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them
that we may know that ye are gods

Jesus is God and it is inevitable that he can shew the former things, what they be, and know the latter end of them but then one thing observed in the scriptures is his silence about the YHWH name of God, thus proving that the pronunciation of YHWH was made secret. Jesus never revealed it.

Dt 29:29 The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.

Indeed Israel’s fathers forgot the name of God.

Jer 23:16 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, [and] not out of the mouth of the LORD.
Jer 23:18 For who hath stood in the counsel of the LORD, and hath perceived and heard his word? who hath marked his word, and heard [it]?
Jer 23:20 The anger of the LORD shall not return, until he have executed, and till he have performed the thoughts of his heart: in the latter days ye shall consider it perfectly.
Jer 23:21 I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied.
Jer 23:26 How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies? yea, they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart;
Jer 23:27 Which think to cause my people to forget my name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbour, as their fathers have forgotten my name for Baal.

These prophets who claimed to have received revelation were religious leaders-pastors as earlier verses hinted.

Jer 23:1 Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the LORD.
Jer 23:2 Therefore thus saith the LORD God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the LORD.

This will happen in the latter days.

in the latter days ye shall consider it perfectly
I have not sent these prophets
Which think to cause my people to forget my name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbour,
as their fathers have forgotten my name for Baal

Prophet Jeremiah spoke here of two names of God, the present one known to the people of God in the latter days which Jeremiah was prophesying about and secondly, a name already forgotten by the fathers of Israel.
These false prophets are latter day prophets/pastors as implied: in the latter days ye shall consider it perfectly.
They will prophesy lies and think to cause the people of God to forget that presently known name of God in the latter days—the name Father. In the latter days would obviously mean the Christian dispensation and one of the names of God taught by Christ during that dispensation is the name FATHER.

2Ti 3:16 All scripture given by inspiration of God is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

One of the inspired scriptures:

Isa 63:16 Doubtless thou art our father, though Abraham be ignorant of us, and Israel acknowledge us not: thou, O LORD, our father our redeemer thy name from everlasting.

Doubtless thou art our father
thy name from everlasting

Jesus taught Christians to address God as Father in the prayer “Our Father”.

in the latter days ye shall consider it perfectly
I have not sent these prophets
Which think to cause my people to forget my name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbour,
as their fathers have forgotten my name for Baal

Clearly, Jeremiah testified that indeed the former name of God YHWH have been forgotten by the former Jews as they have been rebellious and immersed in the activities of idolatry.
as their fathers have forgotten my name for Baal
Indeed ISRAEL has forgotten how to pronounce the name YHWH.
The reason?
They indulged to whoredom, that is, idolatry for a false god, Baal.

Jer 32:32 Because of all the evil of the children of Israel and of the children of Judah, which they have done to provoke me to anger, they, their kings, their princes, their priests, and their prophets, and the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
Jer 32:33 And they have turned unto me the back, and not the face: though I taught them, rising up early and teaching [them], yet they have not hearkened to receive instruction.
Jer 32:34 But they set their abominations in the house, which is called by my name, to defile it.
Jer 32:35 And they built the high places of Baal, which [are] in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through [the fire] unto Molech; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.
Jer 32:36 And now therefore thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning this city, whereof ye say, It shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence;

Eventually by being preoccupied in pagan religion they would inevitably forget the name of God.
HOW COME THAT YHWH NOW IS BEING REVERED AS YAHWEH OR JEHOVAH THEN?
as their fathers have forgotten my name for Baal
ITS PRONUNCIATION WAS LOST AND FORGOTTEN SO HOW COME? The Jews forefathers forgot the name of God so how can there be correct transmission of God’s name to latter Jews then?
Impossible
It was
FORGOTTEN…
It cannot be that YAHWEH OR JEHOVAH was by divine revelation as all things were given already during the apostles’ time but neither was the word YAHWEH or JEHOVAH ever been spoken of in the apostles’ epistles.

2Pt 1:3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
1C 4:6 And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and [to] Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another.

hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness
not to think above that which is written

not to think above that which is written

YAHWEH OR JEHOVAH is above that which is written bec it was a forgotten name.
Think!

JER 23:27 as their fathers have forgotten my name for Baal

As a matter of fact, there is no existing proof to show that the pronunciation of YHWH was preserved.
