JESUS ROSE ON A SABBATH

Mt 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
TO a catholic, Jesus being in the heart of the earth 3 nights and 3 days constitutes a rather misguided notion. To them, it is not literal 3 nights and 3 days but a length of time that is actually shorter than specified. It is bec they believe that one part of a day is as the whole therefore ¼ of a day is the same as the whole day.

Counting they begin on Friday, at 3 PM which to them is one day.  Friday night to Saturday night is another one day. Saturday night to Sunday is one day thus they completed 3 days equivalent of 3 days and 3 nights.

Is that counting correct?

No. Counting don’t begin from the time he died but on his burial eliminating the catholics reckoning. It is erroneous. If we count from Friday sundown, jesus would be in the tomb 2days thus inevitably scrapping any grain of truth to the catholic teaching.
Another thing to consider is their assertion that Jesus died before a Sabbath and buried as they assumed from Friday sundown—Saturday sundown, an ordinary Sabbath.

Though it say Jesus died before a high Sabbath, they disregard other notion that it could perhaps be other Sabbaths than the ordinary sabbath.
Jn 19:31 . The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and [that] they might be taken away.
The Sabbath was a high day or in greek terms is megaIE which means a great day—a great Sabbath. Not the ordinary weekly Sabbath.

The fact is, Jesus rose from the dead on a Sabbath. Thus if he was buried on a Sabbath and rose again on the same Sabbath, it cannot account to the 3nights and 3 days specification.

Mary was on the tomb early morning of Sabbath.

MATT28;1, MK16;2,9, LK24:1, JOHN20;1 ALL accounts have the disciples on the tomb early morning AT THE FIRST DAY OF THE WEEK. If we are to look at it in the greek scriptures what is supplied for first day of the week is mian sabbaton or mias sabbaton which have a direct word for word meaning as ONE OF SABBATH or ONE DAY OF SABBATH.

If the disciples were on the tomb early morning of Sabbath then that means earlier on the Sabbath Jesus already rose from the dead.

If Jesus were dead before a Sabbath then rose again during Sabbath, then it cannot account for the 3 days and 3 nights specification which only proves that during the 3 days and 3 nights 2 sabbaths have subsequently occurred. The high Sabbath which is the Sabbath before he died, that is on the first day and the other Sabbath wherein he rose from the dead—the ordinary Sabbath which is Friday sundown—Saturday sundown, the third day.

Catholics may I asked you a question. If Jesus died before a Sabbath and rose again during Sabbath, how could that account for 3 nights and 3 days?
LETS COUNT.

CATHOLICS believe jesus died before Friday. Before Sabbath.  Friday night to Saturday night is Sabbath. Saturday night to Sunday is another Sabbath to conform to reality that Jesus rose on a Sabbath.

But then it is not their belief that two Sabbaths occurred. There is only one Sabbath that occurred in their eschatology. Thus it is undeniable from their misguided notion that JESUS SHOULD HAVE DIED BEFORE SABBATH AND ROSE AGAIN ON THAT SAME SABBATH. Thus counting, Jesus was on the tomb one day only, on the night of Sabbath.

What a joke!!!
But if we apply logic and common sense we should have arrived at a conclusion basing on the requirement of counting god prescribed.

LETS COUNT.
WEDNESDAY SUNDOWN—THURSDAY MORNING=ONE NIGHT

THURSDAY MORNING—THURSDAY SUNDOWN=ONE DAY

(the above mentioned is the high Sabbath)

THURSDAY SUNDOWN—FRIDAY MORNING=ONE NIGHT

FRIDAY MORNING—FRIDAY SUNDOWN=ONE DAY

(Below is the ordinary Sabbath)

FRIDAY SUNDOWN—SATURDAY MORNING=ONE NIGHT

SATURDAY MORNING—SATURDAY SUNDOWN=ONE DAY
That is counting, the god’s way—as God prescribed.
(Below is the ordinary Sabbath)

FRIDAY SUNDOWN—SATURDAY MORNING=ONE NIGHT

SATURDAY MORNING—SATURDAY SUNDOWN=ONE DAY
Jesus rose on a Friday night—in THE THIRD DAY.

why?

Counting the first two days is made of complete 24 hours. Why the third day Jesus rose earlier than the complete third day?

BEC ALL THE ACCOUNTS SAY, HE WILL ROSE WITHIN THREE DAYS.

Mk 8:31 And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and [of] the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.
AFTER THREE DAYS.

AFTER in Greek is meta which means amid.
AMID 3 DAYS.
IN Jewish theology, a part of the day is considered as one day, thus the third day being partial is considered one day.

JESUS ROSE FRIDAY NIGHT. MARY WAS ON THE TOMB ON A SABBATH—SATURDAY MORNING.  The word used for first day of the week is mias sabbaton which means one of Sabbath. THE MEN TO EMMAUS WERE TRAVELLING ON SATURDAY.

Lk 24:21 But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, to day is the third day since these things were done.

As we can see, jesus rose earlier before the third day ends, meaning, his time in the tomb is less than 3 whole days.

The problem is this:

Mt 28:1 . In the end (opse: after the end)  of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first [day] of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.
THE END OF SABBATH. If Jesus rose on a Sabbath, why it say mary was on the tomb after the end of Sabbath.

BEC IT WAS ALREADY THEN AFTER THE HIGH SABBATH. THE HIGH SABBATH IS NOT THE ORDINARY SABBATH.

Jn 19:31 . The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and [that] they might be taken away.
That reconciles the problem of counting.

LET’S RETRANSLATE:

AFTER THE END OF SABBATH AS IT BEGAN TO DAWN ONE OF SABBATH  MARY MAGDALENE AND THE OTHER MARY CAME TO SEE THE TOMB.
Meaning, after sabbath (Thursday) as the sabbath (Saturday) dawns, Mary was already at the tomb, that is earlier, jesus rose from death.

What is undeniable is, the catholic’s view is a failure, THEY BELIEVE ONE SABBATH TRANSPIRED. JESUS CANNOT DIE BEFORE SABBATH AND ROSE AGAIN ON THE SAME SABBATH which makes it irregular and unaccountable to the 3 DAYS margin.
CATHOLIC OBJECTION:

Mias Sabbaton. Mias means one or first. Sabbaton could either be Sabbath or a week. Which makes it first day of the week  OR ONE OF SABBATH.
ANSWER:

Sabbaton as a week is not in my strong’s definition.

CATHOLIC ONJECTION:

it’s a beta not the final release.

ANSWER:

Yes. A beta.

DILEMMA:

it could either be “first day of the week” or “one of Sabbath”. Whichever BUT…

Why choose “first day of the week” over “one of Sabbath”?
AND IF IT IS A BETA

Why use a foreword in the beta which defines itself in integral form? Meaning, it reflects completeness, thus, what it say, is complete.

Here is the foreword:
Strong’s numbers

for ScrTR

Adapted from Robinsons (Scrivener Textus Receptus 1894)

A Strong’s number is an (index) number which refers to a Lemma in the Strong’s Lexicon.

James Strong numbered every Hebrew or Greek root word which was found, for ease of reference for his Exhaustive Concordance, first published in 1890.

I am with MCGI but everything here is my personal view.
