WE, Mcgi, believe that the true canonical scriptures are the 66 books of the bible.
Catholics on the other hand adds apocryphal books to the 66 books later after they agreed officially on 66 books.
WE DONT BELIEVE THE APOCHRYPA OR DEUTEROCANONICALS BEC IT CONTRADICTS THE TRUE SCRIPTURES.
An example is in the matter of purgatory.
HERE IS THE CATHOLICS CATHECHISM:
III. THE FINAL PURIFICATION, OR PURGATORY
1030 All who die in God’s grace and friendship, but still imperfectly purified, are indeed assured of their eternal salvation; but after death they undergo purification, so as to achieve the holiness necessary to enter the joy of heaven.
1031 The Church gives the name Purgatory to this final purification of the elect, which is entirely different from the punishment of the damned.606 The Church formulated her doctrine of faith on Purgatory especially at the Councils of Florence and Trent. The tradition of the Church, by reference to certain texts of Scripture, speaks of a cleansing fire:607
As for certain lesser faults, we must believe that, before the Final Judgment, there is a purifying fire. He who is truth says that whoever utters blasphemy against the Holy Spirit will be pardoned neither in this age nor in the age to come. From this sentence we understand that certain offenses can be forgiven in this age, but certain others in the age to come.608
1032 This teaching is also based on the practice of prayer for the dead, already mentioned in Sacred Scripture: “Therefore [Judas Maccabeus] made atonement for the dead, that they might be delivered from their sin.”609 From the beginning the Church has honored the memory of the dead and offered prayers in suffrage for them, above all the Eucharistic sacrifice, so that, thus purified, they may attain the beatific vision of God.610 The Church also commends almsgiving, indulgences, and works of penance undertaken on behalf of the dead:
Let us help and commemorate them. If Job’s sons were purified by their father’s sacrifice, why would we doubt that our offerings for the dead bring them some consolation? Let us not hesitate to help those who have died and to offer our prayers for them.611
HERE IS THE CATHOLIC BASIS, THE APOCHRYPA:
2 Maccabees 12:44-46Douay-Rheims 1899 American Edition (DRA)
44 (For if he had not hoped that they that were slain should rise again, it would have seemed superfluous and vain to pray for the dead,)
45 And because he considered that they who had fallen asleep with godliness, had great grace laid up for them.
46 It is therefore a holy and wholesome thought to pray for the dead, that they may be loosed from sins.
The CATHECHISM of catholics states that their basis of the doctrine of purgatory is based from the apocryphal book of maccabees wherein it emphasized on praying for the dead for their purification.
That contradicts the bible as god impose the fact that christians having been purged has still in them VENIAL SINS…
1JOHN1:7-8 but if we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another AND THE BLOOD OF JESUS CLEANSE US FROM ALL SINS
IF WE (the ones cleanse from all sins) SAY WE HAVE NO SIN, WE DECEIVE OURSELVES….
as the verse states, even after we are cleansed from all sins, we still have residual sins, logically, VENIAL sins, implying that what the blood of Jesus cleansed are only mortal sins, not including VENIAL sins.
DESPITE HAVING VENIAL SINS, AS LONG AS THE BLOOD OF JESUS CLEANSED US OF MORTAL SINS, GOD STILL CONSIDERS US SINLESS
thus purgatory is irrelevant
TITUS3:5-6 ACCDG TO HIS MERCY HE SAVED US BY THE WASHING OF REGENARATION….THAT BEING “DIKAIOO” (MADE INNOCENT OR SINLESS) BY HIS GRACE, WE SHOULD BE MADE HEIRS…
as we can see, those cleansed by the blood of Jesus has still VENIAL SINS. DESPITE that God considers them “DIKAIOO” or innocent or sinless.
IS THERE NEED OF PURGATORY THEREFORE NOW THAT GOD CONSIDERS CHRISTIANS HAVING VENIAL SINS AS SINLESS?
No more bec there is no more sins to purged as god consider them sinless.
THAT DISPROVES PURGATORY.
and bec purgatory is an apocryphal doctrine therefore DISPROVING the APOCHRYPA as authentic scriptures.
Lastly, the catechism said
SOME OFFENSES ARE FORGIVEN IN THIS AGE AND SOME IN THE AGE TO COME
MATT 12:32 WHOSOEVER speak against the holy ghost shall not be forgiven NEITHER IN THIS AGE OR THE AGE TO COME…
it implies, there is no more forgiveness in the age to come bec it is already a world of sinless people,
As I have presented above….
2PET3:13 THE NEW HEAVEN AND EARTH WHEREIN DWELL RIGHTEOUSNESS….
